The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director. Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year. God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started inve
Last night our friends Vito and Cherie Tunzi hosted a gathering at their home for any of our former church folks in Maryland who wanted to get together and see our family. They've been so gracious as to plan this event each time we've come back thru the area on vacation. We're always humbled and amazed when we pull up and see the amount of cars gathered on their several acres of property and realize, "wow...all these folks came to see us." Always brings tears to my eyes.
I am equally amazed at their thoughtfulness in remembering, "I made this special dish to bring because I know it's Pastor Larry's favorite..." and things like dear friends Ron & Susan Morgan going down to Hermans bakery to pick up a strawberry cake to bring because it's mine. I'm also amazed at how Cherie pulls together successful events on short notice. :) But the thing I'm most amazed by is the family of God growing up. It amazes me how beautifully "our babies" have grown and flourished. Seeing those who were just small children when we pastored the church now grown and raising children of their own in the "nurture and admonition of the Lord" is just precious! Hearing those who were kids back then say, "your investment in my life is impacting my children now..." means the world. I didn't even realize how much some of them were listening back then!! But they did, for our words were quoted back to us quite a bit! Ha! Most of all, HIS words were quoted!
There is nothing that compares to spiritual parenting! We are so blessed.
