The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director. Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year. God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. Today is an extremely busy day for the Shrodes. It's Workday II for our launch of Celebration Church today. I've organized all of the food for the workers and Larry's going to run the workday today which is all day. I, however will be home at the same time cooking and cleaning for our Leadership Christmas Open House which is on Sunday night. It normally takes me 2-3 days to get ready for this with all of the preparations that I do for it. There are 70 guests invited and I make a favorite list of appetizers and desserts each year and have our home all ready to welcome them in for an evening together. I was trying to figure out the past two weeks how I would help run the work day, get the lunch set up for workers, and spend the needed time getting the open house ready to go. I came to the conclusion there was no way I could feasibly do it, so I asked Candy to take charge of setting up the lunch which she readily agreed to do, great friend that she is. :)
So, here's to holiday music cranked up while I cook/clean all day and do some praying in between. Yay!
One last thing for today...the other night in Fusion I showed this video and asked for audience comments. They were extremely varied. Our topic was Christmas expectations, and we discussed expectations, disappointment and what we teach our children. Here's the video...
