What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Second day after Maddie's accident

For those who are catching up with the blog after the weekend, to bring you up to speed, our precious Madeline was hit by a car on Saturday.  Our world was rocked.  A lot has gone on in the last 48 hours.  Thankfully she is still with us but she has a long road to recovery ahead.  The following is an update from yesterday, the second day following the accident.

Sweet baby...we are so blessed to have you still in our lives.

Michele, Candy and Cathy chose to eat their own dinner at leadership meeting right on the floor by Maddie, since she never wants to be alone.  As Michele ate, Maddie snuggled up and put her head resting on Michele.  Thank you my friends, for loving our baby so much.  :)

I come out of my room and see this sight and it just breaks my heart.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.  Psalm 107:20

Candy purchased a bunch of jars of baby food for Maddie, thinking maybe she would eat some of it, since she wants nothing to do with her dog food.  Sure enough, Maddie gobbled down the baby food.  Thank you, Candy!  I am so blessed to have friends who care so much.

Michele takes out Maddie's IV, while Cathy and Candy hold her and help out.

***  WARNING ***

If you have a weak stomach you might not want to look at this last photo.  I am just attaching a warning in case this would really disturb any of you reading.  (My goal is not to disturb or offend.)

The next photo shows the seriousness of Maddie's injuries.

I'm putting a lot of blank space here so that if you don't want to see something graphic you can exit now and don't have to.  Please skip over it if you have any reservation about it and you can just come back tomorrow for something cheerier.

For those who choose to look you will understand how I was thinking Saturday that she might not make it, and why I fell to a heap on the floor and had a breakdown.  I thought she was gone and if she was not gone, I was simply broken that our precious Maddie had to be in this pain.  Truly, she is a miracle...not a fully walking miracle yet, but I believe she will be.

Keep scrolling if you want to....

This is one of her leg wounds that the bandages and socks cover in the photos.  All the skin is gone and that is her muscle  on her leg.  Unbelievable.

What do I do when I see this in photos or in person?

Weep my eyes out.
Still.
And I'm sure I'll weep again today and tomorrow...
Michele says Maddie is doing excellent and that this wound looks much better.  I trust her word.  More than that, I just have to trust God's Word.

"For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, saith the Lord."
Jeremiah 30:17

Please, continue to pray for our precious Madeline.  We will keep you posted, but this is the last really graphic photo I will post.  :)  Barring a miracle of God, Michele says she will always be badly scarred, but as long as she is alive and will ultimately function well, all we care about it that our precious Maddie is still with us.   Thank you God, for sparing her.

Poor girl...

If she's not eating her regular dog food, try lean ground beef mixed with white rice [Minute Rice is fine!]. My dad used to train large dogs, and that's what we fed them if they were injured or not feeling well enough to eat their regular food. It's easier on their stomachs, and it's warm, mushy and comforting.

Praying that she feels better soon - like I said, this happened to me eight years ago [almost to the day - it was November 9th, 2001], and all the emotions are coming back. My baby has gotten lots of extra hugs and treats this weekend :o).

Some people will never understand this...

And that's okay. Just let us be as we lavish love upon the fur-kids of the world. It doesn't mean we don't care about people. We do care. In fact most of the people I know who are great pet lovers are also the greatest philanthropists. If you're not a dog lover, you might not understand the overwhelming intensity that many of us felt about Tank's reunion this past week. You might think we've lost our marbles. That's okay, we think you've lost your heart. ;)  Before I go on with this post, let me say that we were delighted that CBS 10 posted the video and article about Tank and his Celebration Church reunion yesterday. Click here to watch it. (But then come back!) If you haven't realized it, there is a revolution in America about dogs. Dogs have always been loved and known as the most loyal companions ~ "man's best friend". But things have gone way beyond this. Dogs aren't just dogs or friends anymore. They are family me...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
