What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

New attitude

I'm feelin' good from my head to my shoes
Know where I'm goin' and I know what to do
I tidied up my point of view, I've got a new attitude!
I'm in control and my worries are few!
Cause' I've got love like I never knew
Ooooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo
I've got a new attitude!

~ Patti Labelle

I said I'd share how my new experiment with how I handle last minute unexpected stuff went, and so here I am for a few minutes before bedtime...

Today was great! Excellent! Couldn't have been better.

I spent my morning as Wonder Woman, saving the day, lassoing (sp?) problems in and finding solutions, leaping tall obstacles in a single bound, and through God's power coming through with a banner service.

I had to get a new way of looking at things. In the past (recent past, as in...before this morning!) I would just get upset over unforseen things people would throw my way and just get so angry at them for doing it, and spend all my time focused on how wrong it was of them to do that, rather than focus on how big God is and what He can do through me in response. People become great through problems they solve, not through just showing what they can do when everything goes just as planned. This is why Sully Sullenberger, the pilot who landed the plane this past year in the Hudson River, is such a hero. When the unforseen sudden double bird strike happened and the engines went out, he had to act fast and decide what to do and his wisdom and excellent skill in landing saved hundreds of people's lives. Now he is a hero and that very unforseen challenge has made him a household name.

If I'm going to be great, I have to solve problems. This morning I solved quite a few of them. In the future, I'm committing to looking at these instances as my time to shine and instead of becoming harried, become a hero.

YAY! I too have taken on a new attitude. In the last week we have been hit with the loss of food ($$), Friday our van tire had to be replaced unexpectedly - was a brand new tire ok so a few months old but still...and then Sat. the dryer died. Today I stood up and Praise God for all of these things happening! I am bound and determined that satan will not steal my joy and that God no matter what will get my praise and all the GLORY! Love ya girl for keeping it real!
PD, I am in this same place. Retraining how I think and respond. It's really empowering. Politicians have "spin doctors." Folk trained in spinning things so that they are favorable for their elected official. Well, we have to become our own spin doctors. The bible tells us that all things work out for our good anyway.

I'm choosing to rise to the occasion too. Instead of talking crazy and complaining, I'm adopting a whole new way of thinking. Again its empowering and frees up brain matter for more important things.

Amen Pastor Deanna!

I had my weekend all planned out. Our Children's Pastor called me on Fri afternoon and said " the ------ team has just quit teaching Kidz Church... this morning. Can you and David handle this ?" For a second satan brought to mind all my plans...and then I said "yes." So we spent Fri. evening and all day Sat. preparing for a 2 hr. Kidz Church for about 50 kids. Deanne, it was such a blessing! Taught on Esther and how God can use anyone. About 80% of the kids come from the projects and they put adults to shame with the amount of faith they have! They laid hands on their friends during prayer, 5 asked Christ into their hearts. And then for them to come up and hug me and say, "Thanks for teaching." ...that was my reward! We can do ANYTHING with His help.

Some people will never understand this...

And that's okay. Just let us be as we lavish love upon the fur-kids of the world. It doesn't mean we don't care about people. We do care. In fact most of the people I know who are great pet lovers are also the greatest philanthropists. If you're not a dog lover, you might not understand the overwhelming intensity that many of us felt about Tank's reunion this past week. You might think we've lost our marbles. That's okay, we think you've lost your heart. ;)  Before I go on with this post, let me say that we were delighted that CBS 10 posted the video and article about Tank and his Celebration Church reunion yesterday. Click here to watch it. (But then come back!) If you haven't realized it, there is a revolution in America about dogs. Dogs have always been loved and known as the most loyal companions ~ "man's best friend". But things have gone way beyond this. Dogs aren't just dogs or friends anymore. They are family me...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
