What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Friends Day!!!

We had a phenomenal Friend's Day today at Northside. I knew it would be! I had all the faith in the world about what God was going to do, and He did it.

We had a terrific attendance, and 10 people got saved! That was the best part, of course.

Worship was off the chain. We did a brand new song this morning, "Freedom" by Eddie James. It was so hot, I'm telling you -- so hot I'm surprised it didn't singe everyone's eyelashes! (lol) Larry was so pumped about it he came up to the pulpit and said, "we're doing that song again!" and we went right back into it. Funny thing happened -- little Andrew who I just adore -- he's so funny leans up to his Mom and said, "ummm...we just did this song. Why are we doing it again?!" KIDS! They are so funny.

We featured some amazing testimonies of what God has done in people's lives through His power and the ministries of Northside.

After church we had lunch on the grounds. First, mega kudos to David and Gayle Lechner who just began a new ministry the past few months at NS, which they have named "Gethsemene." (Any guesses as to what that is?) I'll spare you the guessing and just tell you -- they are doing landscaping and making the place look PHEN-O-MENAL! Their hard work was so evident all over the property. And mixed with mine and Cathy's new decor that we put up for fall -- it was amazing! The leadership team did a fantastic job of having lunch ready literally as people walked out the front doors they got right in the food line. We had a TON of food. Volleyball went on all during lunch. People sat and talked until about 3:00 pm...and then we went home and Larry and I took a little nap and then got up and went to the movies with Bernie and Lisa. We saw Eagle Eye. VERY SUSPENSEFUL. Don't go unless you want to sit on the edge of your chair and nervously tap your nails as to what's going to happen next.

Can't wait to blog about some other things as the week unfolds...God is doing some incredible new things and I couldn't be happier to share them with my blogging friends.

I am so grateful to God for what He did today. All of our visitors were back from last week as well... --and we had lots of them. My SS class is growing every week. I was completely amazed at the amount of people in there today. A lot of people have been asking if we can make CD's available. It's just something I haven't made a priority because I've got so much else going on to arrange. I feel like we are really starting to run on all cylinders again and can't wait to see what God is going to bring about these next few months!

Kudos: Knowing your Big Heart, I am not surprised by anything God does through your church! Happy Pastor Appreciation month. Your church is so blessed to have such creative, enthusiastic, and loyal SP's.
Insightful: Be patient, humble, forbearing, and meek in your ministry. You'll be amazed at what God will do through you. He resists the proud, insecure or boasting. My dh is one of the most humble and modest men you'll ever meet.
Provoking: Keep diligent and faithful! God truly provides and will literally surround you with ones who will hold you/Larry up in the place that God has for you! DH and I have been at our church 14 years. It was about the size/shape of your church when we first came, God has done a huge thing here! But He's not finished yet, there is much more to come. We should NEVER be "comfortable" or satisfied. Pastors are to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
Continue on, my friend! 2as1

Some people will never understand this...

And that's okay. Just let us be as we lavish love upon the fur-kids of the world. It doesn't mean we don't care about people. We do care. In fact most of the people I know who are great pet lovers are also the greatest philanthropists. If you're not a dog lover, you might not understand the overwhelming intensity that many of us felt about Tank's reunion this past week. You might think we've lost our marbles. That's okay, we think you've lost your heart. ;)  Before I go on with this post, let me say that we were delighted that CBS 10 posted the video and article about Tank and his Celebration Church reunion yesterday. Click here to watch it. (But then come back!) If you haven't realized it, there is a revolution in America about dogs. Dogs have always been loved and known as the most loyal companions ~ "man's best friend". But things have gone way beyond this. Dogs aren't just dogs or friends anymore. They are family me...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
